The 'Chief Petty Officer's' shirt was originally designed in the 1930’s for cold weather work in the U.S. Navy. This timeless design has become an important part of popular culture over the decades since the war, but few have matched the authentic quality of this since it was first produced for the armed forces. This shirt has been designed to be worn over several layers, making it an incredibly versatile garment which can be worn as a shirt or jacket.
The wool/flannel blend has been woven on vintage looms to create a warming and comfortable material which doesn’t itch or irritate. The simple patch pocket boasts a scalloped flap which has been lined with a 100% cotton twill. Custom made vintage naval anchor buttons have been used throughout this model, and a slightly more pointed collar adds a touch of period correct detail. The buttoned cuff has been rotated on this over shirt to correctly imitate the sleeve design of the 1st model CPO’s. This shirt has been faithfully reproduced on vintage machines from the U.S.A, and even features a chain stitch run off for added heritage authenticity.
